Toka Bivvy

Toka Bivvy is a basic two-bunk bivvy in Ruahine Forest Park, built to provide a sheltered stop on the Ngamoko Range. Use is free and bookings aren’t required—when you arrive, it’s first come, first served.

The bivvy sits at about 1320 m altitude on piles at the sheltered western edge of a basin, just below the Ngamoko ridgeline. There’s no drinking water provided; a pit latrine is available, and swampy ground around the bivvy has “swamp rafts” installed to get onto and around the site.
