Upper Jamieson Hut
Upper Jamieson Hut is a backcountry wilderness hut in Victoria’s High Country, accessed from the Jamieson area. Use is free and it operates on a first-come, first-served basis—no bookings are taken.
The hut area is reached by a 4WD vehicle, with a small steep section near the entrance track that can be tricky. Track access can be seasonally restricted during winter months, and a camping area association (Grannys Flat/Upper Jamieson Hut) also reports seasonal road closures during the cooler period.
On-site use around the hut area includes toilets and fire pits, plus river access; plan on self-sufficiency and bring what you need for a remote overnight. Arriving early is a practical strategy during busy periods because there’s no reservation system.
