Wainui Hut
Wainui Hut is a standard 4-bunk backcountry hut run by the Department of Conservation in Abel Tasman National Park (Golden Bay area). Use it as a basic overnight stop in the national park’s hut network, with sleeping provided for four people and a fireplace plus toilets with pit latrine disposal.
Bookings aren’t required—standard hut use is first come, first served. Before your stay, you buy a Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night and place it in the honesty box at the hut; or use a Backcountry Hut Pass for unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for 12 months. Adult night rate is $10 up to 30 June 2026, youth (5–17) is $5, and children/infants (0–4) stay free; rates change from 1 July 2026.
