Abri de Couyassalès

Abri de Couyassalès (Endòst deth Cojaussalès) is a small, unguarded mountain shelter in the French Pyrenees, in the Vallée d’Aspe area. It’s intended for basic backcountry use when you’re planning a stop on a long day or an overnight in the region.

Use is free and there’s no reservation system; expect strict first-come, first-served use. Because it’s an unstaffed, basic shelter, come prepared with your own sleeping gear, plus food and water, and plan to leave no trace (pack out your trash).

A nearby access point for longer Pyrenees routes is Col d’Aran; the shelter sits around 1,495–1,500 m elevation in the same Col d’Aran sector.
