Abri de Vallserra

Abri de Vallserra (also known as Abri de Balcère) is an unmanaged backcountry shelter in the Catalan Pyrenees at about 1,772 m. It’s a small, basic stop intended for self-reliant hikers, with sleeping platforms sized for a handful of people and simple interior furnishings.

Inside, there are two sleeping areas (bas flanc) for small groups, plus a table and benches. A stove/wood-burning option is present, and the shelter was renovated around 2015–2016; in summer, only part of the shelter may be open, reflecting the use of the area by pastoral shepherds.

Capacity is 10 (about 4 sleeping places are commonly), and it is a first-come, first-served shelter with no booking process. Bring your own sleeping bag and plan to provide what you need for cooking and warmth; water may be available nearby, but it’s not something to rely on without local confirmation.
