After Party

After Party is a sport crag on the Cheekye River north of Squamish, with routes from 5.8 to 5.11d. The south- and southeast-facing wall gets strong sun; the east-leaning right side receives afternoon shade. Most pitches are close to 20 metres and climb directly above the river, with vertical to slightly overhanging movement and exposed belays that give the area a multi-pitch feel.

The rock combines granite and basalt, with climbing on jugs, underclings, crisp edges, and small crimps. Key points on the routes have permanent draws to help keep the rope clear of the water while cleaning. The approach starts at a parking lot on Squamish Valley Road near the Sea-to-Sky Highway, follows forest and mountain-bike trails north, and crosses the Cheekye on a cable bridge. High water can make verbal communication difficult between climber and belayer.
