Angel's Crest
Angel's Crest is a long, adventurous multi-pitch climb on the North Walls of the Stawamus Chief in Squamish, following the north arête beside the North Gully to the summit area. The route is about 600 m and is commonly described as 13–14 pitches, with a US grade of 5.10b.
The climbing is predominantly traditional, with short steep or crux sections divided by easier terrain. The pitch grades range from 5.5 to 5.10b, and seven bolts are listed for the route. Allow for a substantial outing: the line includes slabs, cracks, traverses, scrambling, and exposed arête terrain rather than a single continuous wall pitch.
The climb was first completed in 1962 by Les MacDonald, Hank Mather, and Fred Beckey. The first free ascent followed in 1975, by D. Loecks, P. Charak, and L. DuBois.
A commonly used approach begins at the climbers' parking area below the Apron, follows the dirt road for roughly 10 minutes, then turns onto the Angel's Crest trail. The route finishes in the Chief summit area and is associated with a walk-off descent.
