Baraque de Bonnant

Baraque de Bonnant is an unstaffed mountain shelter on the approach to the Croix des Têtes area in the Vanoise massif. It sits at about 1,700 m and is used as a backcountry bivouac-style stop rather than a staffed refuge, so plan for self-support and first-come sleeping arrangements.

The shelter is set up to sleep around 10 people (with multiple mattresses on-site) and has a wood stove for heating.

Access is steep and can be tricky: approach lines include an old via ferrata/traversal and other routes through forested slopes, but some described sections involve exposed or partially damaged fixed lines and confusing/overgrown footpath segments. Stick to dry conditions and have solid navigation and footing before committing to the final approach.
