Bergerie supérieure de Mary

Bergerie supérieure de Mary is an unstaffed mountain shepherd’s hut in the French Alps near Maljasset, used by hikers as a simple backcountry stop. It sits at about 2,365 m and is equipped for staying overnight with sleeping places and a stove setup.

Inside, there are beds for 4 people (2 straw/mattress bunks plus 2 with mattresses) along with blankets and pillows. The hut has a stove/wood burner, but you need to bring/haul your own firewood from below because there are no trees nearby.

Water is available very close to the hut via a source feed/tap. Use here is on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system, and the hut is typically left open seasonally (for shepherd use from May to September).
