Cabane basse des Taillades
Cabane basse des Taillades (also known as Cabane de Caychax) is a small, unstaffed backcountry shelter in the French Pyrenees at about 1250 m. It’s set up for minimal sheltering: a fireplace, a table, and a concrete sleeping ledge with room for 2 on two mattresses/blocks; bring your own sleeping gear since there are no blankets/covers provided.
For water, use the Ruisseau des Taillades about 100 m north, or the Ruisseau du lac d’Appy about 500 m southeast. Access can be done on foot from Caychax by taking a forest road that starts about 750 m southeast of the village along RD 20 and runs up the western flank toward the hut. Use is first-come, first-served with no booking.
