Cabane basse d'Ihizelai

Cabane basse d'Ihizelai is an unmanaged mountain hut used for overnight stops on foot in the French Basque Country near Ascain, at about 331 m. It’s a simple shelter on the route rather than a staffed refuge, and it has no fireplace or stove provided.

Plan on bringing your own sleeping gear and prepare for minimal on-site facilities: the hut is set up for sleeping but provides no mattress or covers. There’s typically water nearby (within about 100 m), while there are no latrines.

Access is on foot from the parking of the Carrière d'Ascain; follow the main track uphill toward La Rhune, staying close to the path where the hut sits.
