Cabane Cayolar d’Anhaou
Cabane Cayolar d’Anhaou is a pastoral stone shepherd’s shelter in the French Basque Pyrenees, used as an unguarded backcountry hut. It’s intended for hikers who want an emergency/trail stop rather than a staffed overnight base, with use running on a first-come, first-served basis when it’s not occupied by working shepherds in summer.
Access is not built around a dedicated hut booking process—plan on free use rather than reserving a bed. If you’re trekking in the Arbailles area or passing through the Holtzarte gorges, it can also be worth lining up nearby serviced lodging options so you’re not dependent on the hut being available.
