Cabane d'Arrech
Cabane d'Arrech is a free, unstaffed pastorale hut in the French Pyrenees used as backcountry shelter on routes in the Ariège/Couserans area near Col d’Arech. It’s a small basic cabin that stays open for use but has the practical reality that it can be occupied by the shepherd during summer.
Use is first-come, first-served (no reservation system). Expect basic shelter only: a wood fireplace/cheminée, sleeping space on a mattress/bat-flanc, and a captured water source close at hand (with sink/lavabo features described by users). Keep the hut clean and take your trash back down; when the shepherd is present, respect their priority and belongings.
