Cabane de Bressenge

Cabane de Bressenge is a small private shepherd hut complex (2 huts total) in the Mercantour/Haute Vallée du Var area, with one of the two cabins staying open year-round as an emergency shelter. It’s intended for weather protection and emergencies; during the summer grazing period it may be occupied by a shepherd.

Inside, sleeping is limited to about 5 people, and the hut provides a table and seating plus a stove/wood stove for heating. A saw is available for handling wood, but you’re asked not to take from the emergency wood supplies meant for actual emergencies; the stove can smoke poorly, so expect slow/finicky draft when you first light it.
