Cabane de Cohennoz

Cabane de Cohennoz is a free, unmanaged backcountry shelter (cabane non gardée). It’s used on a first-come, first-served basis—there’s no booking process—so plan to arrive ready to sleep without staff support.

Expect a very basic setup: the structure is deteriorating (including difficulty with doors) and it’s typically good for shelter and an emergency stop rather than comfort. Bring your own bedding/sleeping system and supplies; there’s an open central fireplace at ground level for cooking/heat, but don’t rely on maintained firewood or modern comforts.
