Cabane de Coma Joan
Cabane de Coma Joan is an unstaffed mountain shelter in the Cerdagne area of the Pyrénées-Orientales, used as a backcountry hut on the GR10 corridor between Porté Puymorens and the Étang du Lanoux. The shelter is a stone building in two separate parts, both open outside of the pastoral rest period, each with its own fireplace; sleeping is on simple sleeping platforms/mattresses rather than bunks.
Use is first-come, first-served (no advance booking). It’s free to use. Interior setup centers on basic common furniture—tables and benches—with a small number of sleeping spots (around 2 on mattresses is typical), and there’s no staffed service. Plan to be self-reliant: bring your own bedding/groundsheet and enough water to supplement short walks to nearby water sources when conditions allow.
