Cabane de Cruzous

Cabane de Cruzous is a small, unguarded backcountry shelter in the Ariège area of the French Pyrenees at about 1880 m. It offers very basic sleeping space (3 places) with a simple wooden sleeping platform and spare foam pieces that can serve as makeshift bedding.

Bring your own sleeping gear and food: there is no stove and no fireplace provided. Water is supplied by a small catchment feeding the cabin, but it can dry up later in summer, so plan carefully. Use is free and it is first-come, first-served (no booking system).

Access is by hiking, with approaches from Salau (via the Anglade mine) or from Bidous/Ossése (via the Port de Marterat), and then dropping down toward the hut from the col/crest area. Some parts of the shelter may be used for seasonal herding, so expect the need to adapt your plan if the open section is occupied.
