Cabane de Garsan

Cabane de Garsan is an unmanaged backcountry shelter (cabane non gardée) in the Ariège Pyrenees area, used as a simple stop for hikers. It provides sleeping for 4 people on a concrete platform with mattresses; note that during summer the right side can be set aside for a herder, leaving the left side for visitors, but that split isn’t guaranteed.

Inside, there’s a fireplace/large chimney but no kitchen, and you should plan to bring what you need for a night (especially a sleeping mat/ground insulation—mattresses are present, and extra floor padding may still be necessary). Water is available nearby from the river, and the shelter description notes water close to the hut plus a specific caution that nearby wood may not be on hand.
