Cabane de la Hounta
Cabane de la Hounta is a small unguarded backcountry hut in the French Pyrenees (Ariège/Couserans), used as a hiker shelter on the route to Port d'Orle. It sits at about 1,470 m and is used year-round, with the hut sometimes occupied by a shepherd in summer.
Sleeping is simple: up to 6 people with 4 mattresses upstairs. The hut has a wood stove/wood-burning heating setup and a fixed table with benches on the ground floor. Water access is available nearby, but the water captage may not always be running, so plan to treat/verify water sources you reach.
Use is free and no booking is involved; expect first-come, first-served use.
