Cabane de la Jasse de Brougnic
Cabane de la Jasse de Brougnic is a small, unstaffed backcountry shelter in the Ariège high country, built for occasional use by hikers when other options aren’t available. It has sleeping space for about 5 people and basic interior gear including a chimney, mattresses, a table, benches, a “bas flanc” for sitting/lying, and lots of storage.
Use is free and it isn’t managed, so plan on arriving and finding the shelter as-is. It’s at about 2,065 m, and you’ll need to rely on limited water: there is a water point in the grassy area to the north, captured by a pipe, but it has been that this point may not be working reliably—so treat water and be prepared to walk a bit farther if needed.
