Cabane de La Motte

Cabane de La Motte is a free-access, unstaffed mountain shelter in the French Alps. It’s intended for emergency shelter and short stopovers rather than managed stays, and there’s no booking system—use is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The shelter sleeps about 4 people and includes a wood stove, plus basic furnishings such as a table and benches. Plan to carry what you need for the night (a sleeping bag/gear appropriate for basic hut conditions); a nearby water source may be available in warmer months.
