Cabane de la Vésine
Cabane de la Vésine is a non-guarded mountain shelter in the French Pyrenees, used as an open backcountry stop with free, first-come use. It is set around 2,100 m altitude and sleeps up to about 6 people on internal sleeping platforms (no mattresses provided).
Inside, it has an inside corner fireplace and a table, plus benches/built-in sleeping boards for a small group. Bring your own sleeping system and plan for water needs: water is available nearby at a stream/flow, but it needs treatment.
Don’t rely on reservations or booking—capacity is limited and the shelter is typically used as an open refuge—so plan a backup (e.g., bivouac/tent) if it’s full.
