Cabane de l'Homme Mort
Cabane de l'Homme Mort (1390 m) is a non-guarded backcountry hut in the Pyrenees near Foix, used as a simple stopover on multi-day hiking itineraries. It’s managed locally by the Mairie de Ganac and is accessible on a first-come, first-served basis (no advance booking).
Inside, there are roughly sleeping places for 2–3 people, with a fireplace and basic furnishings such as tables and built sleeping platforms; wood needs to be brought/handled locally rather than expected as a dedicated stove setup. The hut has a nearby water source (fountain/spring type) and no latrines and no stove. A chimney is provided for fire use.
