Cabane de Neych - vicdessos

Cabane de Neych – vicdessos is a small backcountry mountain shelter in the Vicdessos area, managed by the Mairie of Siguer. It’s open for use when it isn’t taken by the local pastoral cycle, and it can be occupied by a shepherd during summer.

Use is free but it’s not a bookable, staffed refuge: it operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservation. The shelter is reachable via a challenging hike from the Bouychet parking area in the Siguer valley (around 4.5–5 hours), and it sits at roughly 2,080 m.

Inside, expect rustic conditions with a limited capacity (about 4–6 people) on simple sleeping arrangements. Drinking water is available.

Plan for simple hut logistics: bring what you’ll need to stay self-sufficient, and avoid occupying the shelter during the period when it’s required for pastoral use.
