Cabane de Rouzet

Cabane de Rouzet is a small, unmanned mountain shelter used as backcountry overnighting in the French Pyrenees. It’s very basic: sleeping is on a cement slab sized for up to 4 people, and it has no heating or stove. There’s no fireplace flue, and the shelter isn’t equipped with mattresses, blankets, or pillows—bring your own sleeping system. Inside there’s a stone table, and there’s an area for a fire (without a chimney), plus an outdoor fire space.

Plan on self-sufficiency: there’s no running cooking setup provided, and a nearby stream is the water option but needs treatment. Fuel and firewood can be scarce around the cabin, and the shelter is known to be quite isolated, so you should be ready for a remote night. The shelter is managed locally and is first-come, first-served with no reservation system.
