Cabane de Trinqué
Cabane de Trinqué is a non-guarded stone mountain hut (around 2005 m) on the GRT in the valley of the Ribérot. The hut is open year-round and is reached for overnight stays by hikers along the GR network.
Sleep and heat setup are simple: it accommodates 4 people on wooden bunks with mattresses, and it has a fireplace. Interior layout includes 2 wooden side bunks (with 4 mattresses), a bench, and a chimney.
Water is limited and must be planned for: there is a small intermittent stream in front of the hut, with additional sources along the GRT farther west. As there’s no stove, you’ll need to bring everything you need for a basic non-catered overnight; use the fireplace only if you can manage fire safely.
Because it’s a free shelter on a first-come, first-served basis (no booking), you should expect to share the hut at peak times and carry a backup solution such as a tarp or bivouac if you arrive to a full hut. Follow leave-no-trace practices and keep the cabin tidy for the next group.
