Cabane de Yerse
Cabane de Yerse is an open, unmanaged backcountry hut in the Yerse valley near Asson (Ossau/Ouzom area). It’s set up for simple overnight use with about 6 people of sleeping space, and it includes a wood-burning stove plus basic cookware and gear for winter upkeep (including a shovel and saws).
Inside, you’ll find a table and benches, a cleaning broom, and cooking/lighting provisions centered on the stove. Water is available via a nearby non-drinking tap/source (about 20 m away), and it’s recommended to boil before drinking; there’s also an outdoor water replenishment point nearby at the hut area during the main warm-season period.
Use is free and there’s no advance booking—treat it as first-come, first-served. Bring what you need for a safe overnight (including a sleeping layer/drapes) and plan to restock/maintain the stove wood if you use the facilities; pack out your trash to keep the hut ready for the next party.
