Cabane des Gardes de Traucadou
Cabane des Gardes de Traucadou is a small, unmanaged mountain refuge in the French Pyrenees at about 1,350 m. It’s designed for simple overnight stays—sleeping space totals 4 people, and there’s a fireplace/cheminée inside for keeping warm (with a history of the refuge being rebuilt after it burned in 1944).
Inside, the hut includes a table and benches plus cookware (cooking pots and pans), and there’s a mezzanine for additional sleeping space. A water source is available a short distance downhill from the hut. Use is free and there’s no reservation system; plan on bringing your own food, sleeping gear, and water, and be ready to share the limited space when it’s busy.
