Cabane du Carton

Cabane du Carton is a small, unstaffed mountain shelter at 2,290 m, used as a backcountry stop in the Mercantour area. The structure is open and reserved for shepherds during the summer grazing season; it is not locked, and it is kept for basic use rather than staffed service.

It has room for about 4 people (4 sleeping places). Inside you’ll find a stove, with simple seating/sleeping arrangements including a table and benches; there is no fireplace and no wood available, so plan for fuel (and be self-sufficient for cooking). The approach is on foot, and nearby routes commonly link the hut with the Sommet du Carton area and the Lacs de Lignin.
