Cabane du col de la Llossa
Cabane du col de la Llossa is a non-staffed emergency shelter at 1,665 m on the Col de la Llossa (Prades, Pyrénées-Orientales). It’s a basic “grab-and-go” stop for hikers in the region rather than a serviced hut.
Use is free and there’s no booking system; plan for it as an emergency refuge on a first-come basis. Inside, it has a fireplace/chimney, but it’s very rudimentary: a roof sheet is missing and the floor is cluttered, with no stoves provided.
Access is generally possible from June to October in normal conditions, but snow determines when it’s reachable outside that window. Approach: at the col, take a track starting north, left of the road; follow the forest track past the barrier that prevents car access, continue about 100 m, and the cabane is on the left a short distance off the track. A nearby forest is within about 100 m. There’s no water within 100 m and no latrines.
