Cabane du Col des Cassaings
Cabane du Col des Cassaings is an unguarded backcountry hut used for overnight stops along the GR10E in the French Pyrenees. It’s set up as two-part accommodation and provides sleeping space for about 5–6 people, with mattresses on the sleeping platform.
Inside, expect a table, benches, and a fireplace/cheminée; there’s also a wooden floor at the upper level with two foam mattresses. Fire use is possible, with wood available nearby, but there is no stove (bring your own cooking setup if needed).
Access is possible via several GR10/GR10E approaches to the Col des Cassaings, coming from routes that connect through Bonac (via GR10E from the north) or from the vallée d’Orle/GR10 direction toward the Col de l’Arech before continuing on a traverse toward the cabane. The hut can be reached without a reservation system, as it operates as free, unstaffed shelter on a first-come basis.
