Cabane du Coyer

Cabane du Coyer is a small, unstaffed backcountry shelter (cabane non gardée) managed by the ONF, used as an emergency stop in poor weather and primarily as a simple sleeping refuge. It has room for 2 people on a mattress palette. Inside, there’s a 2-place mattress and it’s intended as a basic, sheltered place to wait out bad weather; there’s no fireplace or stove provided.

Access and use are self-directed with no reservation or fees—plan to be fully self-sufficient. The shelter warns about fog on the high plateaus and the Plan des Mouches. A water source is a fountain on the building that is usable at the start of July, but otherwise you should not rely on water and be prepared for limited/variable supply (including the possibility of no water close at the time you arrive).
