Cabane du Prat de la Mire

Cabane du Prat de la Mire is an unguarded backcountry hut in the Ariège (France), restored for passing shepherds and hikers. It sleeps up to 4 people and has a fireplace, with two sleeping areas inside the same structure (the two halves share the hut).

Inside it has 2 doors, 2 windows, and 2 fireplaces; it’s furnished with sleeping platforms (bat-flanc). There’s a source in the adjacent meadow, but it’s not guaranteed nearby at the hut doorstep, so plan to manage water needs on the approach. Use is free and unmanaged, so no reservation is available; bring your own sleeping bag/mat and food, and expect to be responsible for firewood and other essentials.
