Cabane du Ressec

Cabane du Ressec (also known as Cabane EDF de Savignac) is a small, free mountain shelter in the Haute-Ariège valley of Najar, used by backcountry hikers as an unstaffed overnight stop. It sits at about 1,460 m on the valley floor by a small EDF water-retention feature, and the hut is known to be cold and damp in that setting.

Inside, the shelter is a stone hut with two internal areas separated by a half wall (sleeping side vs. dining/entry side) and it has a fireplace (good for bringing the interior temperature up when you manage the draft). Capacity is tight: up to 3 sleeping places, and no stove is provided; bring your own sleeping gear and treat the hut as basic shelter rather than a fully outfitted refuge.

Use is first-come, first-served with no reservation system. Plan on bringing everything you need for your stay, including trash removal; the local expectation is that users keep the hut clean and leave it in good condition for the next visitors. For water, there is water available nearby at the stream, and there is wood in the surrounding area for a fire.
