Cabane du Trapech du Milieu
Cabane du Trapech du Milieu is an unstaffed backcountry shelter on the GR10 in the French Pyrenees (about 1,540 m). It is open for free, with sleeping capacity for about 12 people, and it’s set up for sheltering during unexpected weather rather than organized refuge service.
Inside, you’ll find a large fireplace plus wooden sleeping benches (bat-flancs) on both the main room and upper level. A stove is not provided, but an outdoor water point (a fountain) is typically available, which makes this a workable stop when you’re already carrying your own food and winterized gear as needed for the season.
Use is first-come, first-served (no advance booking for hikers). If you’re planning multi-day treks on this part of the GR10 corridor, you’ll typically rely on other staffed huts and gîtes for any segments that require formal meal or lodging arrangements.
