Cabane du Vallonet
Cabane du Vallonet is a free, unstaffed backcountry hut (cabane non gardée) in the French Alps. It’s intended for first-come, first-served use and works as an open-access shelter rather than a booked accommodation.
Inside are a table and chairs, dishes, and a wood stove/insert for heat. Sleeping space is geared to about 2 people on a 2-place mattress, with room to add 2–3 additional mattresses on the floor if needed; toilets are provided just outside the hut.
For water, there’s a short stream/ruisseau about 100 m from the hut, though late-season flow can be unreliable. Plan to bring your own water treatment and supplies for an open shelter stop, and expect to share the hut with other parties; take your trash out and leave the cabin tidy for the next users.
