Cabane ONF du Villard
Cabane ONF du Villard is a small, unstaffed backcountry hut in the Haut-Verdon area (around 1,304 m) managed by the Office National des Forêts. It’s a compact cabin (~15 m²) that’s well insulated and closes up well, with a large table and a place to sleep on a mezzanine; plan on sleeping on the floor or on the table rather than on bedding provided. There’s a stove/wood stove inside, but no fireplace.
Access is free and works on a first-come, first-served basis, with entry via an upper level and a balcony. Bring your own water treatment and supplies: there’s no running water in the hut, and nearby water is coming from a vallon area and requires treatment; wood is close by, but there are no latrines. The main practical rule is to keep the hut clean and take all trash out, since it’s open to hikers without staff.
