Cabane pastorale de Jasse Grande

Cabane pastorale de Jasse Grande (alt name: Cabane de Madres) is an unstaffed backcountry refuge in the Madres massif/Donezan area at 1849 m. It’s a free-access cabin with a mezzanine sleeping area for 3 people and a fireplace/cheminée plus a cooking setup including a gas stove (gazinière), cookware, and a few grilling supplies.

Inside, it has a fireplace and includes cooking gear such as a gas stove, two saucepans, a frying pan, some cutlery, and grilles; there is also a mezzanine sized for 3 sleepers. Access routes include approaches from Col de Garabeil (via the cabane de la Resclause or via the Vauban route from the D118 near the 1300 point), or from Col de Jau by taking the forest track west, then following the course of “l’Aiguette” up toward the “Bergerie de Madres.” It sits in a protected biological reserve (Réserve biologique dirigée de Carcanet).
