Cabanes de la Bonne Fontaine
Cabanes de la Bonne Fontaine is a small backcountry shelter at about 2,435 m in the Ubaye area. It consists of two stone cabanes and is non-guarded; use is free and on a first-come basis. Sleeping capacity is very limited—about 3 people total—and the shelter is equipped with a small stove (no fireplace).
Expect a self-catering setup: bring food and what you need to cook, and plan for very limited sleeping provisions. Water is available nearby (within about 100 m). Recent guidance notes that one or both cabanes can be occupied by a shepherd during the pasture season—so arrive early and be ready to adapt if the buildings are taken.
