Cache Mountain Cabin
Cache Mountain Cabin is a BLM backcountry wilderness hut in the White Mountains National Recreation Area near Fairbanks, Alaska. It’s a primitive, nonelectric cabin used for winter stays, and the area around the cabin supports skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, snowmobiling, dog mushing, and wildlife viewing.
The cabin sleeps up to 6 people. Use includes a propane cook stove, lantern, wood stove, bunk beds, table and benches, plus an outhouse; staying is limited to 3 consecutive nights. There’s a $42/night fee and reservations are required through Recreation.gov (check-in at 12:00 PM and checkout at 12:00 PM).
Fire campfire use is allowed, but there’s no drinking water provided, so plan to bring your own water treatment and supplies. The cabin is also difficult to reach on foot and is not accessible to ATVs in summer (May 1–October 14).
