Chalet de la Platière

Chalet de la Platière is a backcountry refuge in the Désert de Platé area near Passy, used for overnight stays and meals in the mountains. It’s an off-grid, rustic stop with fireplace access and a small capacity (8 people).

For stays, plan around the refuge’s guarded summer window (mid-June to mid-September). Overnight sleeping typically uses a “drap-sac”/sleeping-bag liner system—blankets/duvets are provided, but you’re expected to bring a liner; sheets are not. Reservations are handled through the warden (including via the FFCAM reservation system), and the refuge requires guests to bring their own waste back down. Rates for an adult night start around €21 (without half-board).
