Chalet de l'Impératrice

Chalet de l'Impératrice is a non-staffed backcountry shelter in the Vosges, used for short stops and emergency shelter. It’s equipped with a wood stove, a fire poker (“tisonnier”) and a stove shovel/peller for ash handling, plus a supply of small wood; inside you’ll find a large table, a smaller table, benches, chairs, and cookware (including bowls and drinking glasses).

For reaching it from Remiremont, take D23 toward Val d'Ajol, then D57 toward the chalet de la Beuille (refuge des amis de la nature). After the étang des Maux cailloux, continue for about 1.5 km; in a hairpin turn, take the forest track to the right. The chalet is roughly 500 m farther along. An alternate approach starts from Maxonchamps via the head of the Hanot, then follows a forest path in poor condition with fallen trees across it.
