Chalet de Maljasset

Chalet de Maljasset is a backcountry hut run by the Club Alpin Français in the Queyras Sud-Parpaillon-Ubaye-Orrenaye area at 1905 m. It sleeps 39 people in 6 rooms (with power and hot shower facilities), and the hut has vegetarian meals available on the booking-based meal plan.

The hut is staffed seasonally (mid-December to mid-April in winter, and early June to end of September in summer), with daily opening from 7:30 to 21:00. Evening and midday service are on reservation; breakfast runs 7–8, and drinks/snacks are available almost all day. Bedding, meals, and stove/cooking autonomy matter for “hors sacs” users: people not taking meals at the hut are welcome, but they must be self-sufficient with their own equipment (and may need to pay an additional 5€ contribution if they don’t bring what’s needed). For bivouac nearby, there isn’t a dedicated “camping” area; set up late and pack out early, and take all waste back down to the village.
