Chalet de Retord

Chalet de Retord is an unmanaged mountain hut (cabane non gardée) on the Retord Plateau, used as an emergency/stopover refuge at about 1,989 m. Use is free and it runs on a first-come, first-served basis (no advance reservations).

The hut has basic shelter and a stove, and wood is available when stocked; plan to be self-reliant and follow leave-no-trace practices. On the Plateau de Retord there are also catered, bookable gîtes (for example La Ferme de Retord), but Chalet de Retord itself is the unstaffed refuge option.
