Chalet Refuge de la Croix Louis
Chalet Refuge de la Croix Louis is an unguided, free-use backcountry cabin managed by the Commune de Cornimont and the Office National des Forêts, set in the Vosges. It’s positioned right off a forest road and is also reachable on foot from the Col de la Vierge area or via trails coming from Lac des Corbeaux.
It’s set up for day stops and simple overnight use rather than staffed refuge services: there are no beds, no mattresses, and no toilets. A wood-burning stove is present, and there are tables and benches inside; firewood can be found nearby, but you should bring your own essentials for bedding and personal needs. A drinking-water point is available at close range but is seasonal, so plan accordingly.
