Coquitlam Cliffs - Scholars Corner
Scholars Corner is the left-hand wall on the central tier of Coquitlam Cliffs, a small southeast-facing sector within a four-wall climbing area. The crag combines traditional and sport climbing, with four routes on this wall ranging from 5.8 to 5.10c.
The trad routes are Fistful of Scholars (5.8–5.9), a well-protected fist-jamming line with a mantle finish; Love for my Babies (5.9–5.10a), a crack climb with a short small-gear section; and Clairity (5.10c), which follows a crack to a roof and finishes with a roof pull. Cleansed by Fire (5.10a sport) follows cracks to an upper ledge before finishing on the face. Routes are approximately 13–15 m and use rappel-ring anchors.
The wider cliffs are arranged in stacked tiers, allowing some climbs to continue upward toward the higher walls. Top-roping is possible on many routes, while leading requires care: the area is developing, some lines are runout, rock may be loose, and grades are provisional. Wear a helmet and assess the rock and protection closely. Street parking and general access require discretion because the area is not sanctioned; use established paths and pack out trash.
