Capilano Classic
Capilano Classic is a 5.11a mixed/trad multi-pitch climb on Capilano Classic Wall in Capilano Canyon. The route is about 50 m long and has four pitches, with 14 bolts. Access begins by rappelling from trees to a large ledge.
The second pitch is 5.10c, following a thin sequence that traverses slightly right to a belay. Pitch three is the 5.11a crux, combining a horizontal traverse, an undercling, and a thin crack protected with small gear. The final pitch is 5.10b, moving left to twin cracks with medium gear; it has been characterized as dirty and dusty.
The first pitch has been described as overgrown and loose, making it currently unclimbable. The route stays shady and becomes wet in rain, so the upper pitches and their protection deserve careful attention. Robin Barley and Nick Barley recorded the first free ascent in August 1990.
