East Creek Cabin

East Creek Cabin is a remote 12 x 14-foot rustic wilderness cabin in the Resurrection Creek valley (Chugach National Forest). It sleeps 6, with a wood stove, table/benches, splitting maul, and a crosscut saw, plus an outhouse; there’s no electricity and no potable water at the cabin. The cabin is available for reservation and is operated by the U.S. Forest Service.

Plan for primitive overnighting: bring sleeping gear and cook gear, and treat/boil water taken from lakes or streams. A wood stove is provided, but you need to supply your own firewood. The published rate is $75 per night, and reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance through Recreation.gov (or by phone through the call center). Pets are prohibited.

Access is via the Resurrection Pass Trail. From the Resurrection Pass North Trailhead (Resurrection Creek Road, milepost 4), it’s 14.5 miles on foot to the cabin; from the Resurrection Pass South trailhead (Sterling Highway, milepost 53.2), it’s 24.3 miles. Winter access depends on snow and trail conditions, and trail use is seasonal (including alternating motorized/non-motorized use by year).
