Alpine hut

Ecureuil is a backcountry hut operated by La Traversée de Charlevoix, used on the La Traversée de Charlevoix thru-hike. It’s a 12-mattress shelter, and it’s typically restricted to people doing the complete crossing or half crossing; last-minute stays are possible if availability opens up within 48 hours of your target date (reserve via the operator’s booking process).

The hut provides key cooking and shelter equipment such as a slow-combustion stove, propane cooking and lamps, dry composting toilets, and a set of sleeping mattresses. There’s no running water inside; treat water from the nearby water sources along the route (filter, disinfect, or boil), and in winter you may need to make an ice hole with an axe or melt snow. Use is fee-based and mattress-based, and reservations are required.
