Épervier

Épervier is a backcountry hut used on La Traversée de Charlevoix. The shelter has a capacity of 15 and is operated by La Traversée de Charlevoix, with a mattress supply provided.

Use is tied to the traverse: bookings must be made in advance and the hut is reserved for thru-hike/half-crossing participants. Reservations are handled through the Sentiers Québec-Charlevoix Reservotron Platform, and you must check in at the office at km 10.6 on route 381 for registration and information. Even when cabins/shelters are available for short-stay bookings without doing the full thru-hike, that’s limited to booking within 48 hours or less (by calling to book).

Facilities/practicalities are typical of the traverse huts: there’s no running water, but the hut is located near a water source (lakes, rivers, or streams) and there are streams along the trail; treat water (filter, tablets, or boil for 10 minutes). On the equipment side, you’re expected to bring basic items such as dish towels, a scrubbing sponge, toilette paper, matches/fire-starter or newspaper, and a sleeping bag; carbon-monoxide safety requires bringing a 9V battery plus two AA batteries.
